BIO

 Mickey Rodney played with the Techiman based New Waves Sounds till he moved to Accra to play for AFC Sounds later christened DIAMOND SOUNDS.  When the members of Diamond Sounds were all recruited to form the then Adabraka based V 103 Sounds, Mickey moved with them. It was at the studios of V 103 where all the top creative arts celebrities converged and V 103 owned by Taller was the top spinning group that came to break the MEC/SKY Hawks monopoly over the mobile disco scene.  Mickey played the House Music segment of the show paving way for Nabosco and Sir Cee in that order.   He was professional and hard working. A No nonsense kind of a guy. 
His colleague Dj Paap Solo just announced his passing. May he rest in perfect peace.

WILLIE CHII SOUNDS OF GHANA REMEMBERED- A PIONEER IN MOBILE DISCO ( SPINNERS ) WITH DJ BLA BISHOP Willie Chii Sounds was one of the pioneer mobile discos in Ghana following the early attempts by a Tema spinning group called JAMBOREE. The history of Ghana's mobile disco ( spinning) cannot be written without mentioning the role those pioneers played. Almost every young Ghanaian Dj has benefited from this part of the creative arts. This selection is a dedication to late Uncle Willie Chii and his group WILLIE CHII Sounds. Djs such as Black Zeebo, Harry Lord, Ostikay to name a few were all employees of this big name spinning group. MOBILE DISCO IN UK- A DECONSTRUCTION TO HELP UNDERSTAND GHANA

The concept of mobile discos started in the  United Kingdom  in 1966, when Roger Squire began an entertainment service in North  London  named "Roger Squire's Mobile Discothèques". The word  discothèque  is French for "disco". Within two years, Squire had fifteen mobile discothèques performing approximately sixty functions each week. He performed at events attended by celebrities and royalty, at countless college dances, wedding receptions, and all kinds of social events. Over the next few years, many copycat "Mobile Discos" started to emulate his successful formula. During this period, London got its " Swinging London " reputation. Squire later set up a disco equipment supply service that sold disco sound and lighting systems to budding DJs, both in the United Kingdom and abroad.
